On Saturday morning, a group of club members met up outside the Burrell Collection building in Pollok Country Park, Glasgow. After some initial issues with parking apps and meters, we got organised and decided to head towards Pollok House to try some shots by the river and bridge, and in the gardens. The house and stable block are currently undergoing extensive restoration and are closed and surrounded with scaffolding, but there were plenty of other photographic opportunities to keep us busy.

Some of the group started with some landscapes and experimenting with shutter speed by the river, while others went into the herbaceous garden to try their hand at flower and insect photography. While a lot of the flowers were dying back, there was still a variety of options, and the sunshine had brought out bees and butterflies to test our skills and patience!

Hunger called us to return to the Burrell Collection, passing the crowd-pleasing Highland cattle en route. A variety of sandwiches, cakes and drinks were purchased (or retrieved from cars) and taken outside to eat while continuing to enjoy the warm weather. Some of the group decided to leave at this point.

Those remaining now ventured into the woodland and looked for trees with trunks!!! In other words, trees with the trunks visible. Here, we had a go at some ICM shots and discussed the difficulties of woodland photography. We made our way back to the gardens and ended our day in the formal garden photographing and admiring the stunning dahlias. A bit of rain did not dampen our spirits, and we stayed until the time was running out on the parking meter.
