Bothwell Scarecrow Festival

The Hamilton Camera Club was delighted to participate in this year's Bothwell Scarecrow Festival, showcasing a selection of our members' incredible photographic talent. We were fortunate to have a dedicated wing of the Bothwell Parish Church Centre set aside exclusively for our exhibit, providing a perfect space to display our work.

Upon my arrival on Sunday afternoon, a wide array of photographs from previous competitions were already meticulously mounted on display boards. This impressive collection included past club competition winners, highly praised pieces that had achieved success in external competitions, and even some of my own creations! It was truly inspiring to see these photographs up close, many for the first time, and to appreciate the breadth of creative approaches and the high level of skill within our small club.

Throughout the festival, several of our dedicated members were on hand to engage with visitors. Mike, Susannah, and Heather were actively walking the floor, conversing with attendees and even making a few sales. We also had appearances from Gordon, Donald, Mairi, and Andy during my time there, contributing to the club's presence. In total, five photos were sold to the public, raising a fantastic £75 for the club.

Beyond sales, we also distributed a number of flyers and actively promoted the club by discussing its upcoming events, the nature of our competitions, and the creative processes members employ to capture their stunning photographs. We are optimistic that these engagements will lead to some new memberships in the near future, further strengthening our vibrant community of photographers.
