Image Processing Club Night

Three of our most experienced club members provided instruction and insight into various aspects of processing digital images, demonstrating techniques to correct, enhance and embellish a variety of sample photographs.

Demonstrations used Photoshop, Affinity Photo, or a combination of both and covered six topics:

Donald Parsons

  • Resizing and cropping - how and when

  • Straightening horizons and converging verticals

Mike Farrance

  • Working with layers and masks - what are they and what can they be used for?

  • Working with gradients - linear, circular, diamond

Gordon Stewart

  • Working with healing, blemish removal, inpainting brushes and cloning tools

  • Dodge and burn

It was an enjoyable and informative night in which everyone could find something new, whether beginner or expert.  Above everything else, we learnt the most important rule of all: make sure you’ve got the right layer selected!
